For father’s day my kids gave me a deep sea charter fishing adventure on a north Florida party boat during Red Snapper season. I caught plenty of keeper Lane and Vermilion Snapper and one red that was too short to keep. There were four of us in our group and all totaled we caught sixteen keeper fish of varying species that included one Porgy.
There were a lot of Trigger fish that were caught, but unfortunately the season for that species is closed. One person caught a super nice Cobia and another was hooked up and lost at the same time. The most surprising catch that I saw was a really large flounder. We were proved with squid to fish with.
The combos we were fishing with were Penn deep sea reels paired with stout rods that were rigged with two five ought circle hooks and a 12 ounce weight.
Going deep sea fishing on a charter boat is really a lot of fun. This is the second trip I’ve taken in a year that was very successful. On both outings there were really large fish that someone in our family hooked into but never landed.
